In foodservice, waste sorting often fails for one simple reason: friction. During peak hours, staff and customers don’t have time to decode labels, find the right bin, or make “best guesses”, and contamination quickly undermines recycling outcomes. Using Etrash as a practical case, we’ll look at how real-time recognition improves separation quality, reduces contamination, and increases recovery rates, without slowing operations or compromising the guest experience. Beyond the bin, we’ll show how each disposal event becomes structured data that supports measurable ESG reporting.
